Home Programs Appropriate for ages 7 - 17 years old; this NEW program provides an opportunity for families who are not able to participate in the Office Program to receive this very effective program at home!! This 16-week program includes all necessary materials, computer CD exercises, (PC, Windows compatible) and activity manuals. Essential to the success of this program are the unique exercises to train the brain to process visual information more effectively. Included in the program are the computer training involving enjoyable 3-D pictures designed to build comprehension, memory, and quicker processing in reading, flippers to improve the ability to recognize words more effectively and quickly and increase attention span. The instructional DVD and manual outline daily exercises, student goals, and mastery guidelines to develop the four skill areas of learning. Mr. Shapiro is available from 9-5 Monday through Friday to answer any questions, provide oversight, and off recommendations while using the program. Very effective for overcoming such symptoms as: Short attention span Poor comprehension Miscalling words, slow choppy reading, skipping lines Reversal difficulties with letters and numbers Messy handwriting, spelling, math problems Poor self-confidence in school performance This program was specifically developed for out-of-town families and is very similar to going to a local office. Preschool Home Training Program - $295.00 (U.S.) Appropriate
for ages 4 - 6 years old; this program is geared for those who are
underdeveloped, immature, or developmentally delayed. Some
children just need an early "boost" to help insure later
school success. The Program is also helpful for families wishing
to prevent learning problems in the future. The program involves
daily practice on enjoyable skills and exercises in sequence that build
development. Adult Home Training Program - $395.00 (U.S.) Appropriate for ages 17 - adult; a modified version of the full Child Home Therapy Program, the adult kit includes the very best of the vital vision processing exercises to build reading and concentration plus a manual of recommended activities. This Program is ideal for adults and teenagers not needing the full Home Therapy Program. This training builds the ability to read longer, faster, and with better fluency. Students have benefited from increased focus and concentration in visual tasks such as reading and study skills. Many
have seen marked improvement on SAT, PSAT, state academic tests, and
others as a result of a strengthened visual system. One student
remarked, "Before the therapy program, I could maintain
concentration through only half of my SAT. After a certain
point, I began to just bubble in any answer - I got so tired of reading
the questions. After the therapy, I was able to read and
concentrate throughout the whole exam. My scores increased

Appropriate for ages 9-adult; developmental training program. Any child or adult
can use this sophisticated, yet easy to use computer application (any
IBM compatible PC). It is designed to improve processing skills involved
in reading and writing and overcome learning difficulties associated wit reading and writing. Feedback from parents and teachers is
always positive. Advances in reading fluency and comprehension, improved
spelling, increased math skills, and sustained concentration are just a
few of the derived benefits. School Developmental Training Program - $1,595.00 (U.S.)
The School Program is an expanded version of the Child Home Computer
Training Program designed for use in a school group situation. The
School Program is currently being used by public as well as private
schools as an effective tool for overcoming learning and reading
difficulties and building learning potential. The Program contains all
manuals, workbooks, developmental exercises, and CD's for a group of 10 students. Once the
program is purchased, any number of students can participate in it with
a few additional items. Home Color Training Program - $395.00 (U.S.) Research has shown color to be an effective tool for strengthening the Vision Processing System as it pertains to attention span, reading, and comprehension. Now in "goggle" form, these exercises can be used easily at home for 20 minute daily exposures over a prescribed period of weeks. Advanced Phonics Program- $195.00 (U.S.) This program is specifically for students who need further phonics beyond the basics. Whereas most phonics/instructional programs stop at a very primary level, this program is geared for teens and upper elementary students who need to advance further in their phonics and reading abilities. This program includes all the necessary phonics charts, enjoyable high-interest books, drills, and vocabulary to increase a student's reading vocabulary, speed, fluency, and pronunciation of words. Students completing this hands-on program will be reading on a 6th-7th grade level or reading and have the tools to progress into more advanced reading. The Learning Connection in Colorado Springs, Colorado provides a complete screening/testing and office program. Out-of-town families are welcome to come to Colorado Springs for personal testing, evaluation, consultation, and be setup for a home-based program. Mr. Shapiro works individually with each family. Call our office for more details. Procedures: Step 1: Office Screening Visual Processing/Dyslexia Screening This unique testing instrument called a; 'Visagraph' measures the strength and accuracy of the brain to to accurately process visual information (words and numbers) A student is wearing 'funny-looking' computer goggles that are attached to a computer. As he or she is reading a story on their reading level, the computer is recording many aspects of that student's visual processing skills essential to tracking, word identification, speed, and accuracy in reading. A read-out is generated immediately, and a printout shows very accurately at what grade level of reading/visual processing performance the student is performing. Test can be performed with ages 6-adult.
Step 2: Consultation A developmental assessment of the four learning areas (coordination, perception, auditory, vision) is conducted to identify deficiencies. An individualized program is then designed to train and develop the deficient areas of learning. Step 3: Training The program consists of 12 to 16 weekly office sessions twice a week. Skills are reinforced through weekly home exercises. Periodic computer rechecks monitor developmental progress. Additional instruction in Phonics, Reading, and Writing is available. The Office Therapy Program is purchased and used in conjunction with the weekly office visits. The program includes all necessary materials to complete the training program and allows for the individual to refresh skills in the future as needed on his/her own.
